- How do I find out whether my angle grinder is affected?
- Bosch Power Tools is conducting a voluntary safety-related measure for a limited number of large angle grinders. The measure covers models of series GWS 20, GWS 22, GWS 24, PWS 20, PWS 1900 and PWS 2000 which were produced between June and August 2016 and model GWS 24-230 JVX Professional with brake from the production period of February through to October 2016.
The following also applies to nine countries (Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Romania, Russia, India, Belarus):
GWS 24-230 JVX Professional devices which were repaired between January and November 2016 are also being recalled as a precaution.
To check whether your angle grinder is affected, you require the device number and serial number of your device. You will find this information on the type plate of your device. On the homepage you can see where exactly the type plate is located. Here you can also check in real time whether your device is affected. Alternatively you can contact our staff directly using the contact details stated on the homepage.
- Why is Bosch Power Tools conducting this safety-related measure?
- In the course of our ongoing quality controls we have determined that, due to a faulty component, the cutting disc could become detached during operation on a limited number of angle grinders. We therefore cannot rule out the possibility of cuts or bruises being incurred in rare cases.
In order to meet our responsibility towards you, our customer, we have decided to recall the affected devices as a precaution and either repair or – if technically not possible - exchange them for new devices. Naturally, this repair or exchange will be free of charge to you.
- What do I have to do if my angle grinder is affected?
- With immediate effect, the angle grinders involved must no longer be used or provided to others. Bosch Power Tools offers to repair affected devices free of charge or - if this is not possible for technical reasons - to exchange affected devices. Please contact us using the contact details stated on the homepage, and we will be happy to explain how return and repair or exchange are performed in your country.
- My angle grinder has since been repaired. Can it also be affected?
- To be answered depending on the country -
a) If the device was bought in Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Romania, Russia, India and Belarus, GWS 24-230 JVX Professional devices which were repaired between January and November 2016 may also
be affected. In all, a maximum of 100 devices are affected. Bosch Power Tools offers to exchange or replace affected devices free of charge.
b) If the device was bought in any other country except the ones mentioned under a), repaired or serviced devices are not affected.
- My angle grinder is affected but works fine. Do I still have to return it?
- Yes, you still have to return the angle grinder. With immediate effect, the angle grinders involved must no longer be used or provided to others. Bosch Power Tools offers to repair affected devices free of charge or - if this is not possible for technical reasons - to exchange affected devices. Please contact us using the contact details stated on the homepage, and we will be happy to explain how return and repair or exchange are performed in your country.
- How long will it take to receive a replacement device?
- Naturally we are endeavouring to repair or exchange the affected devices as quickly as possible.
- By when do I have to contact you regarding this campaign?
- The campaign does not have a time limit.
